Potentially that alternate fullback option that Brown has been rumoured to be looking for the last few months. Still hope Watson is given first crack but always good to have options.

If we are signing a GB international he won't be coming here to play back up fullback.

Assume Brown would want him at fullback with Watson moving to the bench utility role.

I’d prefer Mann to be honest. He’d likely be cheaper and can cover a few different positions, rather than FB/Wing only (just assuming those are Makinson’s positions primarily).

Mann can play a number of positions but be below average in all of them. Don’t see why Brown is after him to be honest.

watsons the best 14 we have in saying that imo matkinson is nowhere near an nrl standard FB. his got abit of size and is a pretty decent finisher but nothing special.
wouldnt be against him signing for 2020 when skds contract is up. obviously depending on asking price.

In unrelated news, Pete Mata'utia recently signed a 3 year deal to play fullback for a top 4 side in the ESL.

Maybe Brown wants this guy to play F/b so he can move Watson to starting 9 as he has said that Levi is a bench hooker ...1 Makinson 6 Ponga 7 Pearce 9 Watson 14 Levi .

Isn’t he a winger who can play fullback? Not sure why people think he’s going to unseat Watson

That's right too but why would we buy a winger especially a golden boot winner who I guess would be on an ok contract but after winning the boot he will surely get upgraded and I wouldn't want to match that for a winger .

I'd say he'd be a possible replacement (upgrade) for SKD who is off contract, even if TM can't get a release for 2020 they might give SKD a one year deal and look to bring TM over the year after.

Saying English backs don't work here isn't quite fair, although he was Irish Brian Carney was great for us that one season and I'm sure guys like McGillvary, Watkins, TM etc would do really well here. I reckon Ryan Hall would have killed it if he came when he was younger but coming off the ACL injury will be tough for him

I can't imaging SKD wouldn't be re-signed, the wheels would really have fallen off for him next year if that happens.

Most likely, but he’s getting on and definitely lost a yard of pace. If the chance to upgrade comes along Indoubt Brown will hesitate
