Apparently the warriors are not going to offer him the type of money he is on at the moment and he may be 'shopped around'. Thoughts?

    Not what we need.
I think we either need a good quality player who can cover both half and hooker, or a good quality fullback so we can use Watson to cover half and hooker.

Guy goes quiet far to often for the type of money he will probably get.

Hell no, don't need him. For the money he would want we don't have that kind of room in the salary cap.

Surely this isn’t an overnight decision by the warriors? Why would they let mason Lino go? Don’t get me wrong I’m stoked we signed him but the warriors are looking at Corey Norman or Mitch Moses. Who are both duds.

Defiantly not needed here, although putting Ponga back to Fullback with a spine of

    1 Ponga
    6 Johnson
    7 Pearce
    9 Levi/Griffin

Would send alarm bells to every coach and team in the comp.
    Browns game plan would be,
Forwards make meters, you lot do whatever you like.

I can see a problem with that game plan.

his problem at Warriors is he is the dominant half. if he had someone like Pearce outside him who can dominate the game and allow SJ to sit back and make his runs when he can rather then getting the ball every set i feel he would be much better player! plus he is more a running 5/8 imo then a Half back!

They say he is going to Wests, but if we signed him we could probably make it work.
Pearce isn't going to be around forever - a younger half might be handy in time.
Lino would be pissed - suddenly he would be 3rd choice behind Johnson again.

Interesting to look at the NSWRL website and see which players are getting their profiles viewed.
All last year the top Knight was Jack Johns, but now people are checking out the profile of Hayden Loughrey the most. He improved a lot last year - looks like people are taking an interest.
Plays a lot like Lino, only 4 or 5 years younger.

He'd want too much but as 88 said he'd fit in perfectly with Ponga and Pearce

This started as a low rent journo over here taking a perfectly innocuous comment from the Warriors CEO and spinning it.

Warriors arent as flakey with signings with new regime particularly Brian Smith.

All that was said was SJ has a year left on his Contract and negotiations will not be rushed especially as he is touring England with the Kiwis.

What started all this was him adding that after 1st November SJ might want to test the market which is fair enough.

My view is he will stay. His profile in NZ is big so marketing and TPA opportunities are better here for him. Different from say Lino.

Johnson at 5/8 out side Pearce would be awesome imo he is not a 1/2 and not a general on the field but at 5/8 he would tear teams to shreds ..But we cant pay the mill he is on I don't think . If we could get him a bit cheaper say 1/2 price sale then yeah get him

Incredibly unlikely scenario given the planned shift of Ponga to 5/8. Hopefully Watson plays his best at fullback and our spine combination is finally agreed on.

If Ponga decided to stay at fullback and they scrapped the Watson 5/8 experiment, signing Johnson may be worth considering. He and Pearce would be a pretty formidable pairing. I'd be happy to see him in red and blue, but at a discount and an incentive-based contract.
