Really don't see why. Sure he is a good hooker, but we have Griffin when he returns, Levi in the mean time and watson and a few others can cover there if need be.

Unless they know something we don't with Griff?

Brown goes through a lot of hookers.

Don’t see why everyone is so bothered by the fact that we’ve gone through so many hookers. The only one that’s shown promise since Bedsy retired is Griffin, Levi is getting there but is still so rocks and diamonds.

If it's true then I can understand why, Brown has generally wanted 2 hookers in the team. At this stage, you can't really even say for definite Griffin will return so we need to sign a potential replacement. Griffin's injury was a real bad one so I think if he returns he will need a fair stint in reserve grade to show if he can make it back to the top. Starling is depth at the moment & I wouldn't think Brown would play him for 20+ games.

He won't be back until at least half way through the season. If Levi is first choice hooker with no competition Brown might have been sacked by then.

Taking a leaf out of Trump's book.

As long as he's not paying too much and the team doesn't contract an STD from a dirty rake, I trust their judgement...

Yeah nah, if we have our team healthy we make the finals this season, even with Griff getting injured. If we can keep our spine together next year instead of getting consistent injuries we make the semi's next year.

Levi won't have a bearing one way or the other on Browns employment.

Luke will absolutely make us better as a team, just not sure if he has enough in the tank left for another big contract. Anything more then two years makes me skeptical.

    From Toohey's Column

    Only luke-warm

He is the current Kiwi Test hooker and probably holds the key to the Warriors premiership hopes.

But it seems highly unlikely the Knights will attempt to lure Issac Luke back across the Tasman.

Luke remains unsigned for next season and has held talks with Newcastle but there are whispers he needs a shoulder reconstruction which has apparently spooked the Knights.

The fact that he has been on the radar suggests the club is looking to sign another hooker with a cloud still hanging over Slade Griffin after his fourth knee reconstruction.

Luke doesn’t seem the type of player Brown has been targeting so I am surprised there is some truth to this.

Imo I’d rather be having a crack at Jazz Tevaga, decent hooker who can play in the middle as a running forward. Perfect bench hooker

Why? We can kick it out on the full with the restart with the best of them without buying Isaac! He scored a try and was pretty ordinary from there on in.

NEWCASTLE coach Nathan Brown is in Wellington to spend time with All Blacks coach Steve Hansen and several surprises have popped up.

When most coaches spend time with the All Blacks they are usually there in a capacity of observing and attempting to pick up what tips they can about what makes the All Blacks so good before taking it back to their own teams.

Brown was invited into the All Blacks camp ahead of their Test against the Springboks.

“When someone comes in who doesn’t really know how you operate and they have a look at you, then it’s interesting how they see the things we do,” assistant coach Ian Foster told New Zealand media.

Hansen has been with the All Blacks since 2003 and is always searching for fresh ideas.

It seemed a little odd, then, that on top of that Warriors hooker Issac Luke and his manager flew into town on Thursday.

It got even stranger when Luke and his manager was spotted meeting up with Brown.

The only business they could possibly be doing is talking about a possible move to Newcastle next season.

The Knights’ semi-final window opens next season, with Mitchell Pearce back and fully fit and Kalyn Ponga another year better.

Injured hooker Slade Griffin still needs another knee operation, a second, after tearing his anterior cruciate ligament for the fourth time, and will miss most of the season.

    Luke will fit the job.

Definately be a good stop gap on a 2 year deal and would be a good kick up the @$$ for Levi.
