    From the Herald

Newcastle coach Nathan Brown is poised to break from his own tradition and appoint Mitchell Pearce as sole captain of the Knights next season.

It will be the first time since Kurt Gidley skippered the side in his final year at the club in 2015 that the Knights have gone into a season with just one player at the helm.

Not really surprising in the least, but Pearce having the C next to his name doesn't mean other guys like Buhrer and such won't be leaders. People will still look up to the other senior players for leadership.

The playmaker is always the leader.
    Everything else is nonsense.
Joey was always the boss and calling the shots - even as a rookie teenager.
Doesn't matter if you call Pearce the captain - everyone will know he is in charge anyway.

    No brainer.

And given our other options for captain are likely going to be battling to be in first grade, or not on the field for the 80, Pearce is the logical choice.

Imo this is a much better idea 1 captain and a player that's on the field for 80 min.

Reports that Pearce has done something really stupid on the **** on Boxing Day, club has released a statement but not named a player just saying they’re working with nsw police & the nrl integrity unit.

Reading the Play is saying it’s Pearce

Reading The Play is about as reliable as Sporting News/Buzz

And we all know how often they get it wrong.

Sporting news also saying Pearce incident.

Not very credible but who knows. They said channel 7 is reporting it.

The reported that it was him who slapped the taxi driver. In summation they have no f*cking idea what they’re talking about.
