Now it's being reported the Storm will need to shed at least one player to offer Smith the money he is asking. The club is rumoured to have targeted Sam Kasiano, Pat Kafusi or Cheyse Blair as the men to make way for their captain to go around another season.
Kasiano would go ok off the bench at 6'5" and 126 kg and he can get a good pass away .
Don't know about Kafusi but Chase Blair isn't a bad player and at 6'4 1/2 "he would be a good sized centre or winger .

It’s a no to all three for mine. They’re all average. Would rather save the coin for an x-factor player when they become available. Plus, if them staying on means that Smith can’t get the salary he wants and/or doesn’t re-sign, then that’s a bonus.

Not sure how moving on any of those three players frees up the cash for Smith and a minimum wage player to take their spot.

We have 1 spot left on our roster which is being kept for another quality player. Do any of those 3 fit that bill?

We'll take the other Kaufusi off their books for them!

lol Defender1 Bellyache has especially chosen who is for the chopper and it would never be 'the other one'!

Would not look at any of that three. We have better.

If we were 12mths back I'd take all 3, its fantastic to be in a position now where average players are only offered a job to fill our roster.

Although I still think Kasiarno has plenty left in the tank if he has a injury free season or two and stays as fit as he was this season before the injuries hit.

He did his ankle in late Feb and missed 5wks then came back started to get match fit and was going well then did his ACL or something in the Samoa test and came back for Redcliffe in the state cup final.
Lost 15kg or something to get down to that 126-128kg area. Big man.

Can't understand why they need to offload, not paying Billy, retired, we took Glasby, don't have Cronk, some have retired, Hoffman etc, surely he isn't getting much more than last season

Well I don't know how Kasiano would go and it would depend on how much too but , he would be another big man with a good offload and he would probably take a 1 year contract with an option our way . He also wouldn't have to play big minutes , if he was here happy and fit you never know he could be a weapon .

Kasiano is only 28, worth considering.

Maybe a week ago. Now i think it would be a waste of our last spot to pick up anyone that's not a major injury cover or a genuine x-factor

Kasiano has in the past been that x factor at 28 he should still be in his best years as a prop , I would give him a 1 year contract with an option our way ..
In the past this guy has been a beast but sometimes circumstances can cause you to not be at your best .
Injuries , not liking where you are , Bellamys strict structure on and off the field being a long way from familly. Who knows but there is nothing to say he could'nt be a beast again .

We need to be conservative with our two remaining spots. I’d imagine the last would be left for a late June 30 signing or a promotion of one of our lower graders. With Klemmer’s pending arrival we should be pretty good for props. Mann still a possibility. We shouldn’t be wasting it for the sake of filling up our spots.

Agree. Assuming Klemmer comes along, we can wait to see who becomes available and pick up the right players. We might snag some solid buys with the coaching changes. Wouldn’t mind some of the Broncs or Bunnies players who might be pushed out, for example.

As long as he is fit and ready to go I don't think Kasiano would be a waste

I know one thing, Klemmer and Kasiano are good mates and Klemmer would highly recommend Kas.
