THE NRL Integrity Unit is investigating a wild street brawl and two separate incidents allegedly involving Wests Tigers halfback Luke Brooks and troubled teammate Kyle Lovett.

While details of the incidents remain under NRL investigation, the Tigers are confident their players were not at fault after a video emerged of a street fight in Balmain over the weekend following the Tigers’ loss to South Sydney on Friday.

Tigers chief executive Justin Pascoe last night told The Daily Telegraph that he was unaware the players had been arrested but said they were not charged by police.

It is claimed Brooks was only acting in self-defence after his older brother was involved in an altercation inside a Balmain establishment.

After Brooks and his brother were asked to leave, it is said Brooks reacted to a derogatory comment.

It is understood Lovett had been out in the eastern suburbs on the night and had arrived to collect his sister.

Soon after it is claimed Brooks and his brother were attempting to get a taxi nearby when the individuals involved in the initial incident jumped out of the car and another fight erupted.

Pascoe initially did not mention Lovett’s involvement but told The Daily Telegraph he was hopeful Brooks was not at fault.

“And we have spoken to the integrity unit, we have spoken to the detectives, we have spoken to the hotel. We have spoken to Luke,” he added.

Lovett was stood down for four games earlier this year after pleading guilty to cocaine possession, after police found a small bag of cocaine in his underwear.
