    KNIGHTS SIGN Q CUP STAR

Redcliffe halfback Christian Hazard has joined Newcastle.

With Jaelen Feeney not re-signed and William Pearsall leaving the game for full-time employment on the Central Coast, the Knights have turned to Hazard as their replacements.,

Hazard, who was previously at the Titans but yet to make his first-grade debut, enjoyed a successful season with the Dolphins in the Queensland Cup.

His form saw him rewarded with a Queensland Residents jersey.
While the 22-year-old is a half, he satisfies the utility post due to his ability to also play hooker and fullback.

Meanwhile, Newcastle prop Tyrone Amey has re-signed for 2018.

The 21-year-old made his NRL debut in round 26 this year after impressing in reserve grade.

While he was on a part-time deal last in 2017, the new deal elevates the 106 kilo forward into the full-time squad.

Hazard is the guy in the training pics we haven't been able to identify by the look of things.
I see he played NYC for south Sydney.

Unless he shows something special in the pre-season I can't see him replacing any of those 3.

Griffin would probably be above him in the pecking order.

More than likely just a handy backup.

Could very well be playing local league, already have Hodkinson, Cogger, Phythian & Johns fighting for spots in the reserve grade halves.

Says he can play fullback and hooker as well as halfback.
We don't need any more fullbacks with Ponga, Ross, Meaney and Cooper all training with the firstgrade squad, and halfback seems to be fully stocked just now - but hooker is a position where we are a bit skinny still.

Sounds like a good utility depth signing.

He looks like he would be fast which is good but not real big so would be worried about his defence anyone know what that’s like with him?

Looks ok on you tube, different type of player to Griffin, prob more like Levi but with a kicking game. Good support player. Didn't show any his defence.

Saw a video where he was playing a fair bit of hooker so yeah that's probably why he's been brought here, some cover in case Starling doesn't cope with NRL when needed.

Our two young hookers, Starling and Huth, are both amazing prospects, but they are 18 and 19 and both little guys, so you wouldn't want to rush either of them.

Hazard isn't much bigger by the looks of things.

Great to see Amey get another year. Regularly one of our best in NSW Cup and didn't look out of place in firsts on old boys day.

Doesn't look like he has much skill then he pulls out a beautiful offload or a chip and chase (one of my favourite moments of 2017) looking forward to see how he develops in 2018.

Not sure we needed Hazard, don't know him or his ability but very pleased for Amey signing.
