Newcastle Knights' recruit Jesse Ramien has been selected in the Prime Minister's XIII, and will wear the #3 jersey when the squad travels to Port Moresby.

The Australian Prime Minister, Hon. Scott Morrison MP, has today announced the Prime Minister's XIII sides to take part in the upcoming PM's XIII matches against Papua New Guinea in Port Moresby.

Manly Warringah Sea Eagles skipper Daly Cherry-Evans will captain the men's side, which includes eight players to have represented the Australian Kangaroos.

The squad includes 12 debutants, with Aaron Woods (Cronulla Sharks) being selected in the representative side for a fifth time, having led the team to victory last year.

"Playing in Papua New Guinea is a privilege, as there really is nothing like it anywhere in the world," PM's XIII men's Coach Mal Meninga said.

"We've struck a good balance by including some of our more experienced representative players to play alongside some very talented young players," PM's XIII men's Coach Mal Meninga said.

All North Queensland boys with only Tuala being in the Cowboys system.

Very weird side with all young boys for the outside backs but established players for the forwards.

Don’t think I’ve seen the PM’s side ever being like that.

The whole point of the PMs team is to give a payday to players we want to keep in the game, and it's paid for by the government, so costs the NRL nothing.
Most of those guys can use 30k to keep them in the game.

DCE and Hunt definitely need the payday

Sure, they bring experience but I don't know why they wouldn't give some more emerging guys an opportunity to shine

It's a trial/reward. They've got a few players there to have a look at them in a rep environment again, possible Kangaroo selections if they play well & a few guys as a reward for their good season. No idea about Corey Allan or the last 3 though. Maybe they ran out of players like the City v Country last year.

Ramien was also joint runner up as Dally M Centre of the year.

We haven't had a good one since mad dog, won't know what to do with ourselves.
