I have been keeping a close eye on Herman during the world cup and I can't say that he has impressed me to date. He's a big boy who seems to be avoiding the hard work. I hope that it just the fact that he is playing with a bunch of player that he doesn't know very well but he will really need to up his work rate and to move from the second line of defence up to the front line to hold a place in first grade.
I hope that players such as Heighington and Lillyman school him in the finer arts of the front rower.

I've been watching the games but admittedly haven't really taken any special notice to him, though looking at his NRL.com stats they seem okay.

Ese'ese vs New Zealand: 114 metres from 12 runs, 32 tackles, 3 missed tackles in 53 minutes played
Ese'ese vs Tonga: 82 metres from 9 runs, 19 tackles, 2 missed tackles in 52 minutes played

He has been up against some very good opposition and has held his own without standing out at all.
In comparison, Jake Saifiti has played against much weaker opposition and has struggled a bit so far - although the fast and open nature of his games hasn't suited a big prop's style.

I noticed in the NRL last year that he isn't the best defender. For his size he just doesn't dominate.

Those stats look good. Maybe he is one of those players who just gets his work done quietly with no fanfare. He is still young and maybe I am just being hyper critical. By the time the season kicks in he will know his team mates and what is being asked of him and I'll see his best.

Watching him last year at the broncs he never seemed to stand out, I think he just goes about his workload quietly.

He hits the ball up a lot better than he defends.

Often Kurriboy i thought he stood head and shoulders over Korbs, Blair and company. He stiffened the line substantially when he came on.

I thought Samoa looked better against Tonga when he came on the field. He looks for work and actually bends the line. Really looking forward to seeing him go in tandem with the Saifiti's in 2018.

Plus Lillyman, Heighington and King who I reckon may play a bit of lock that's some pretty big bodies.

I just turned the game on to see Ese drop the ball twice in 1min.

Of course players make errors. Levi was ordinary yesterday and got hauled off when the going got tough.

Disagree. I thought he was quite good. NZ lost all of their spark when he went off and hardly looked threatening at all when Leuluai was on.

NZ scored 16 and had 4 scored against them while Levi was on the field.
When he wasn't on the field they scored 6 and had 22 scored against them.
He only played 40 minutes and was completely spent when he went off, but his darts out of dummy half and going to the line clearly got NZ onto the front foot.
The problem NZ have at hooker is that their other hooker is ordinary, and Levi only has 40 minutes in him if he plays for maximum impact.

I can't see him turning in to an 80m player for us. Not if we want his dummy half running to get us on a roll going forward, and catching the markers when not marking in line.

Get 50m out of him per game and sub Griiffin on for the bit either side of half time.

The kiwis looked a lot better when levi was on the field was also impressed with his defense he had some big bodies running at him and only missed the one tackle

One of the Tongan tries was direct result of not having Levi on field the hesitation of a non natural hooker.

Hookers should be 80 minute players
