according to Chris Garry 7 news, on twitter

Corey Oates has rejected the Bulldogs offer for a three year deal. Knights, Eels and Dragons are main players now. Have all made requests for face to face meetings. First on @7NewsBrisbane

If he wants to play second row, that is literally the only position we are already too well covered.
Can't fault Fitz, Guerra and Barnett, and Sione is supposed to be moving there, and Jones and Stone are the two best 20 year olds looking for spots, not to even mention Buhrer, Yates, and young Fermor and Dark.

I’d love to have him. But if he’s he’ll bent on back row it could be a problem.

You never know they might convince him to play wing until Guerra retires.

If he wants to play second row, no. Wing would be a whole other story. Right now there’s Fitzgibbon, Barnett, Guerra, Sione, Buhrer and Yates, with Jones currently on the verge. The backs wouldn’t look as bad as they do now that’s for sure. Ponga, Lee, Ramien, Oates, Ross, SKD, Moga, Sio, Dennis, Hughes, Naden doesn’t look too bad at all. We are linked with every player that comes on the market ever though.

Given our back row stocks and the fact that we have a few tall wingers (SKD, Lee, Denniss), I think either the Club isn’t actually keen and so the rumour is off the mark, or he is using the Knights to up his price.

There’s no way we are signing a guy who wants to be a second rower and wants to be paid like a second rower when we need a backup half, an outside back, and a prop or two

He would be great for us on the wing.
    700k is laughable though.
    Back row, no thanks.

I'd sign him as a second row if we needed one - maybe not for 700k though.
He looks like he could be a very good second row if he can tackle as well as he does powerful runs.

As above really, Oates is a very, very good winger. But not as a second rower, we don't need him there.

Todd Greenberg is in charge remember? He has more important things to worry about, like making sure the teams he wants win each week or trying to fine us for being under the cap.

Play him in the 2nd row and bulk Barnett up a bit, so he can come off the bench and play in the middle.

Oates seems to badly want to shift into the back row and if that is the case I think he will end up at the Eels. If we were happy to offer Ferguson 500k or so I think we would offer Oates similar since they play a similar role and having such a big body in the backline would take some pressure off our undermanned middle.

Why should Barnett be relegated for a bloke whose not even a forward?

We need middle forwards not wingers who think they’re an edge forward.
