I don’t see Watson working out at 5/8. This blokes leaving Canberra. Reckon he be great with Pearce

Watson is coming along very nicely.

Austin can't tackle. He's been abysmal the past 2 years. Pass.

When he has one of his good games he's as good as anyone in the world - but they are few and far between.

He is the type of 5/8 we want, Watson can play hooker now that Griff is gone, would give us flexibility and cover for a lot of positions in backline, even if he played bench with three big forwards you have cover and extra zip off bench, we could do worse

Watson is a better player than Austin.

Unless he can put 20kg on and play prop well? Than we dont need to waste money on him.

Yeah we don't need a guy who is going to demand more then Watson is on yet potentially be less effective. Might as well be grouped in with the likes of Norman and Foran.

Some thick heads in this place.

Watson is Browns first choice 5/8.

    The end!

Love how people pop their loads over some one playing 1/4 of a good game

Sorry if my comment was aimed at the bigger picture, didn't say Austin was better than Watson just that it is an alternative that might assist and work for the betterment of the team, Austin is a good player, if not what you want, and let's face it you lot pick and chose the team, then no problems, let's fix our problem by picking a hooker in place of Griff that's better than 5/8 Austin, or stick with Levi, hopefully no injuries and 80min with Buhrer to fill in, or Levi gets injured and Watson plays hooker and Lamb??? Whoever??? Plays 5/8. It was only a suggestion but not unrealistic

My point is we need props more than anything else.
We could have the best halves in the game and the backline to go with it but without forwards they are worthless.
No point having 5 Ferraris without a engine.

Not a fan of Austin. Prefer Watson. Even if we needed a half, I’d be looking elsewhere.

Austin could be a great 5/8 next to a game controlling half like Pearce which he has never had. Could also get him cheap if no other team is after him.
    But his defence needs work.

Same could be said for Watson. And he’s a better defender. And already under contract. And has more upside.

Austin also turned down 2yrs/1.5m to STAY in Canberra so I would say it would be as unlikely of a chance of us being interested as Foran as it would be for Austin.

If that's right that's huge money for a non rep 5/8, overpriced
