2018 NSW Womens Premiership

Be interesting if any of the under 18 girls make the senior side.
A few of them would go well I think.

We are improving which is good

On the weekend we went down 26-24 to Cabramatta after knocking off Penrith the week before and we narrowly went down to Cronulla 20-14

All 3 of those sides are above us

We play Wenty this week who are last so it's a very winnable game

You'd have to think that Ngalika Barker would be related to Ngangarra Barker who was a very talented 5/8 of fullback who made a few rep teams and emerging blues from the Knights a few years ago. He was unfortunate to be the same age as Cogger and Lamb - he would have played a lot more games for us in any other agegroup.

You are right they are siblings. Ngangarra spent a bit of time with the Titans Toyota Cup side but broke his leg so returned to the Pickers. As a schoolboy he was earmarked for the Australian Union 7's team but chose league instead. In hindsight it may have been the wrong decision.

On a similar topic another Indigenous player, Tristan Reilly who has links to Newcastle through Hunter Sports High has also recently been picked up by the Aussie 7's team. His highlight reel is on par with Ponga's schoolboy Union stuff but Reilly can really whack in defence. Might be a decent option in the centres down the track if he doesn't get a good crack in the 7's squad. However I think he played junior rep for the Rabbits while he was on a Union scholarship with one of the Sydney private schools.

So I think 5 girls from under 18s are in the senior side this week.
That is a lot of 17 year olds.

76-0 win by the girls.
16 tries in 60 minutes - a try every 4 minutes or less.
Ngalika Barker must be as slippery as her big brother - 5 tries in the game.

They have been on the improve for a few weeks now so I expected a win but nothing like that, Well done ladies !!

The 4 teams who have beaten us are coming 1,2,3,4, so our form isn't as bad as it looks.
Our only big loses were against the teams coming 1 and 2.

FULLTIME - NSW WOMENS PREMIERSHIP

CRL Newcastle - 24 (T: Southwell 2, Fressard, Johnston, Howard; G: Howard 2/5)
South Sydney Rabbitohs - 4 (T: Taupau)

The womens team haven't lost a game since the under 18s finished and half a dozen of the best players of the under 18s that made the grandfinal joined the senior side.
A big win over the top of the table side is impressive.
