What they usually do is have a weekend camp at Myuna Bay and then have some trial games at Dora Creek, then they get a big squad and play trials against other Mats and Ball sides before settling on the final squads just before the season kicks off.
The camp at Myuna Bay should be soon i think, if it hasn't happened already.

They will play a trial against Manly in mid January and then the western academy in Dubbo a few weeks later. Our boys will have a tough start, Manly and Penrith away for rounds 1 and 2 then Balmain away and Souths home in rounds 4 and 5.

Did Jones, Dark, Cooper, O'Hagan and Starling play for Ball or 20s?

That could be a fair matchup with those 5 guys in the 18s and Cogger, Lamb, Robson and the Saifiti's out of the 20s.

Jones and Starling didn't play, Ohagan played in the 20s with Cooper and Dark in the Sg ball team. Ohagan was the stand out for the 20s With Cooper being the best out of both teams. The Sg ball are going to struggle if that's there halves pairing they used,

O'Hagan might be even better than Cogger IMO. He seems to have all the skills of Cogger, but he also has some genuine pace.
Good to hear Cooper went well too. Fullback is an area we need some more players coming through.

yeah the sg ball side have a problem in the halves, they werent real good the week before, they have Hiku Moeke and Jack Weir in the squad both have played nearly all their junior football and junior reps in the halves,Hiku has been training as a 6 but they seem to be reluctant to use Weir who from what i heard had a huge season last year on the coast

I don't think Ball will have a problem with playmaking if Starling and O'Hagan play Ball - or even if just O'Hagan plays if Cogger and lamb are in NYC.

If O'Hagan is playing 20's where are the halves from last years matts playing ? Good on cooper , played for NSW u 16's in 2014 and could not get a start in Sg Ball last year and now he back playing.

I only watched a few games of Mats last year, but I thought Tex Hoy was a standout as playmaker. He started the season at fullback, and even from there he was the main playmaker in the side, and then went to halfback later in the season.
I might be wrong, but I think he is young enough to play Mats again. I remember 2 years ago he was the youngest player the Knights had ever signed.

Tex hoy did play matts at both 5/8 and full back last year. Great runner of the ball not to sure on his decision making to play sg ball in the halves a year young but a great player with alot of potential. Tex hoy is to old to play matts again he is 17 this year although its late in the year dec i believe. As for the other half who played matts last year his name is Tristan and he unfortunately left and signed with south syd.

Brodie Jones and O'Hagan must have gone straight into the NYC squad.
Bit of a shame because I could see us repeating the under 16s title in under 18s if those two were still there to lead the team, but for them personally, if they are ready for NYC they should play. A bit surprized Starling isn't starting in NYC too.
