Moga will never get onto the missed tackle list.
He has it all over Pete.
Pete used to go hard at trying to make tackles and missed a lot.
Moga only tackles guys who accidently run into him, and they are much easier targets.
I notice Sione has made 59 tackles at 77.8% efficiency in 3 games, while Moga has made 17 tackles at 77.4% efficiency - but Moga has only missed 2 tackles, so his technique of standing around watching must be superior to Sione's getting stuck in.

If I saw that list of 5 players and was asked what they have in common as defenders, i'd say they are the 5 players who scramble to make tackles the most. I'd be happy to have 17 who have a go like those 5.
 
Billy Pete used to remind of one of my parents kelpies rounding up the sheep, the 4 would be running around herding to them to the yards, than all of a sudden one would rush out and the sheep would scatter all over the show.

Unfortunately like some kelpies, some footballers just don't have the brains or the temperament for the job.
 
Good old Billy. Typing up any old bs idea or thought to protect his loved one, Sione. The master spinner with Kenny as his apprentice.

A centre missing the most or close to the most is not a good thing for any team no matter how hard you try to spin it.

Can guarantee if any centre is near the top of the miss tackles list across the NRL you will see their team in the bottom half of the comp.
 
Cowboyman even the blokes with Sione voodoo dolls should acknowledge he's going OK. Not sensational but OK.

Can we actually accept ok when its some players?
I think Sione is doing the job and not wanting that argument at all.... though plenty have beaten the crap out of the idea of ok not being good enough in 2018.
So what is acceptable from the team and individuals :shrug:
Buhrer was going ok yet people cry over his place in the side.
Watson was going ok yet had knives thrown at him from everywhere.

Yet Sione is going ok but nothing to cry about here:confused:

Not too many coming after Moga after last weekend. While its early in the season and combinations are still getting sorted if there aren't some significant improvements and consistency by the end of 2018 the threat of Ramien coming next year should put these guys on notice.
 
Why wait though, Sione is off contract which should be all the incentive he needs to have a big season.
Moga is just back from a shoulder reco and doesnt seem to be upto pace yet, if he is still average by the broncos game he can go to cup and give Deniss or Nadan a crack.
Stone got sacked for not dropping players, Brown should drop players if they are playing poor for multiple weeks.
 
I think the whole team/squad is going ok, some "great" ok, some "alright" ok, some "just" ok and a couple "not so" ok and agree that we should start to see combinations coming together in next few weeks or the chop comes into play, still 2 out of 3 which is "OK" not great but alright.
 
If you told me after the parra trial we would be 2 from 2 then 2 from 3 to start the year id have had a little giggle tbh.
This has been our second best start to a seasin in 8yrs i think.

Some just need to complain cause thats ll theu know.

Slots, "missed tackle stats" are one of the most misrepresented stats in the competition, often no consideration is given to whether it is the inside or outside shoulder, which is a clear indicator for who should be making the tackle , if you are defending inside out then all tackles should be on the outside shoulder.
When Second rowers mark up beside the halves often they are only taking the heat off a runner for a smaller inside player and then rolling back onto their assigned player for the off load, or aligning themselves to the next defensive position without over committing.

Beamont , Guerra is a prime example of what I was explaining above always defends next to a smaller half , but doesn't over commit.

The NRL fantasy points, which is a statistics based analysis of the players and takes into account missed tackles and other aspects, has Guerra as our best player this year with an average of 55.7 fantasy points per game. Ponga is second on 55.4 - so rating him as our worst defender based on number of missed tackles alone is nonsense.

Guerra and Sione play different positions. Outside backs have fast men trying to run around them. Forwards have slow men running right at them.

Outside backs this year - Sione has made more tackles than the rest put together.
Sione - 59 tackles at 77.7% efficiency
Moga - 17 tackles at 77.4% efficiency
Ross - 9 tackles at 85% efficiency
Ponga - 10 tackles at 53.6% efficiency
SKD - 10 tackles at 83.3% efficiency
