Boyd is off contract after 2018 – if we fail to secure the homecoming of Pangai Jr. from the Broncos, we should throw the kitchen sink at Boyd, as well as the fridge and its entire contents. He would be a great compliment to our already talented pack. In the match on the weekend, he had 12 runs for 120 metres and 61 post contact metres to lead both teams forward packs. He usually makes around double the contact metres that Lillyman contributes so already we can see what an upgrade that could be going forward. He also made 23 tackles with no misses. What do you think I would be all for it ...
 
Id preffer him over Tpj.

Big and lazy. In fact the whole Raiders pack seems to be lacking fitness. Yesterday allowing two field goals and allowing the Warriors running from goal line to 25 metres out within the five tackles twice in thirty seconds was terrible. Not one Raiders forward moved up in defence, just stood at the line waiting for the man with the ball.

That is three games in a row the Raiders have had a lead and blown it. Papalli looks so out of condition Ricky needs to get the trainer cracking.
 
You'd have to use him right.
Like Matt Parsons back in the day, once he is gassed, you have to get him off the field.
I think with the new interchange rules all sides only have room for 1 really big guy, unless you get a freak like Klemmer or Fifita etc who can play big minutes with big impact.
Boyd would be good for 2 twenty minute spells of high impact, which means all the other guys would have to play longer minutes.

Ummm a 4 player rotation of 20 minutes spells equals 80 minutes

Yeah but that has nothing to do with a front row rotation, most props aim for 20-25 minutes.

You would be hard pressed to find 10 props that average over 50 minutes a game all yr.
 
It's not how long on the field but what you do while on it, if Boyd gives 15mins of damaging play it makes his teammates job easier and allows his relief to play longer minutes. He is certainly someone we should seriously consider along with Pangia to say replace Lillyman and Heighinton, the team would then be set, all positions reasonably covered.
 
Really mate? I'd be quite confident for either Safiti or King to come and do a job if required, am hoping that they'll knock over Lillyman and Heighington for their spots by the end of the year.
 
I cant see raiders letting him go to be honest, the raiders do look big and lazy this year but they have always been slow starters, don't think they like playing in the heat its only round 3 though. If we did sign him imagine a pre season under Browny a fit Boyd with the twins would be a strong pack although I think we should after the young forward from Broncos first.
