Rumour: Knights chasing Josh Papalii

Papalii would be a good pick up but I would be surprised if Canberra let him go. As said above he would have to move into the middle here and he does posses the ability to break the line, a prop rotation of Ese’ese, Saifiti boys and Papalii would be pretty handy. I don’t know if Lillyman will go round again next year but it’s possible he only turned 34 this month and he would not be the first prop to play well into his 30s.

If he's fit and in shape his best footy has easily been on an edge imo

We have a good backrow atm, no need to buy papa if its for an edge spot.
We need a wrecking ball in the middle though.... badly, papa fits the bill for that and more so if he was fit

Would be a great signing. On his day, Papalii is one of the best forwards in the game. He’s still only 25 too, so plenty of good footy ahead of him. If he gets himself in the right situation, his best footy could even be ahead of him, which is really saying something.

He’s definitely played his best footy on the edge. That’s where he’s most damaging, but he can easily play lock in the middle third too. He’s that good, that talented. If you’ve got a game changing lock (Taumalolo, Trbojevic, prime-Burgess for example), that really changes the make up of your team and is a huge advantage.

Papalii is such a powerful and damaging ball runner, but he’s also quite skilful as well. He’s already proven himself to be a top tier edge backrower. I think he’s got the potential to be a top tier lock if tasked with that and given a full pre-season to prepare and work on some things.

Papalii is more dangerous on an edge I think but can play lock or prop if needed, If he is fit he can do massive damage in all of those positions

For me the biggest issues are fitness and price

His diet is terrible.
Im sure a new club and fresh start mite change the attitude he has, big gamble for any club willing to pay 500k + for him.

Big gamble for sure, clubs think they can take a player from a club and give him a fresh start, turn him around and get him firing again.

If the player has motivation issues at a club, it's a big gamble that he is going to magically transform at the next one. Hayne is a great example.

That's it, get him out of his comfort zone where he knows everyone & can get away with stuff. Certain it would benefit him to go to a new club where he has to earn the respect & be a professional.
