No - keep him on.

1. Because we want you to be in as much disarray as possible this summer.

2. Seriously, he's not that bad a captain although he's probably got lazy having had Warne, McGrath, Gilchrist et al to call on for most of his captaincy. If players of sufficient quality aren't there, there's nothing the capt. can do about it.

Yes I still do rate him. He has an excellent mind... it's players around him who don't excecute for him.

Michael Clarke especially. Moron.

He's a rubbish captain

What kind of a captain elects to bowl in an Ashes test without Glenn McGrath in their side?

You mean in 2005 geez it was ages ago we've since won back the Ashes and why now stop liking him?

no one in the team even has anywhere near the experience he does, he is the best man for the job. Although we're not winning, we are not being disgraced and still taking games down the the wire (even if the other team was still in control).

The test team has lost around 500 games experience in the last two years, and add to that hayden now being forced into retirement we are gunna go to the ashes with a squad with 600 less caps then when we beat the 5-0.

all this pressure on ponting is really affecting his game, so in an ideal world it would be good to give him a break, but he is really our best option by far.

he is in charge of the batting line-up, bowling line-up, selecting the team , tactics, field selections. all of this has been pure crap this summer.

he is getting found out without langer, gilly, mcgrath, warne, martyn, lehmann etc.

if we had it my way, warnie would of been the captain after tugga

as jonno said, the pressure has really affected his game. it did when he first became captain, too. he didnt score a century for a calendar year. its time to release the pressure on him and give pup the captaincy.

ponting out.

/end rant

So who do we want as captain then? Clarke?

I cringe at the thought he will lead us in a few years.

Any captain would find it hard to replace players and expect performance.

You could take the gamble and 9.9/10 times with McGrath/Warne/Gilchrist at the helm it would pay off.

Now he has got no game breakers and people expect him to figure it out overnight? Impossible.

Punter should be captain, hes got the most experience. The next person with the most exp. is Clarke, who is only 27 and too young. After that is Huss, which I dont think should be captain. Too much pressure on him.

Tendulkar has more experience than most of the Indian team and that doesn't mean that he should be captain

on the topic of clarke, has anyone seen his bonds commercial, gayest ad i have ever seen, its as gay as that one where the guy juggles a soccer bal while taking his clothes off then somehow fits a soccer ball in the front of his underpants?. come to think of it they are both bonds adds, so they probably have a theme, id rather see the one where it has all the girls mucking and dancing around haha

Dhoni is so overated it's not funny he's a handy batsmen and keeper and his captaincy is alright but guys like Dravid and Kumble were way better leaders then he is

What's Dravid's best achievement?

Going from 21 to 22 at the SCG?

P.S. Not having a go at any MS members in this thread..

Rahul Dravid is one of the best batsmen to have played the game he has scored over 10,000 runs in both forms of the game and has the most solid technique you can have he's behind only Ponting as the best batsmen of the 00's

Just because we have had many important names retiring lately, doesn't mean Ponting goes. His job has been a lot tougher lately as has been the whole teams. It may take a while before we can be known as the strongest force again.
As for Ponting's position in the side, keep him for sure.
