Garbutt & Stig return. The Cowboys I don't think have won a game in this comp. If we lose, Season over.
Probably the best team we have had named all season.
We have Peter Mata’utia, Daniel Isaac, Ryan Stig and Mitchell Garbutt back and they are all great players. Also good to see the Return of Joel Burraston, He will add some creativity to the side. To sum it up the side looks great.

Yeah, it's a shame Mika's out, but it's good to see Natusch back in the side though.
I might go to this, most have first grade experience.
And I want to see all the Uate talk, what all the fuss is about.

oh dear
what a thrashing
I wonder what the end score will be
Arrrgghh back. What a disgrace...
1. Gordon: Was good verbally, but nothing more... he got injured late in the 2nd half.
2. Uate: Made good runs, cant catch a high ball for shyt. Boy his got some speed!
19. Sau: Sau replaced Mad Pup in this one and was solid on his side.
4. Lulia: FMD he was sooo bad. He knocked on a few times, his defence was poor. He will be in that team for a while put it that way. He dropped the ball from a cutout pass.
5. Teason: Didn't see much of him, cant comment.
6. Karawana: I don't know where we were playing him and didnt see much of him.
7. Walsh: A MYTH, kicked out on the full a couple of times, got smashed. Got trampled on, his deadset losing weight.
22. Dureau: This shocked me, lets just say... he hasnt improved on his previous performances. Defensively he looked alright, but attack was dead... Knocked on once and kicked out on the full again.
23. Ciraldo: I didn't even notice him, he was dropping off tackles and never rarely got the ball.
The only guy I thought was good was Natusch.
The guys who should have stood up as they have NRL experience looked worse then the usual NSW Cup players tonight.

scotty hasn't been the same since his injury
shame about walshy :(
and lulia has bad handling sometimes
It was as if Lulia pretty much said 'Hey ball, go over the touchline' He just left it.
That night drived me insane, I wonder what Frizzed would say!
~knights1~
14-06-2008, 09:20 PM
did they just 'give up' or were they trying
did they just 'give up' or were they trying
Gave up. It was 16 all at Half time and then bang Lulia knocks on. They score... then again off the kick off. Then ripped up the middle with no markers.
It was just poor really... a shame.
~knights1~
14-06-2008, 09:23 PM
seems like you were disappointed with lulia
you were bit of a fan of him weren't you???
Yeh I was... but he is just not alert. It's like his lost in the side.
Aku would rather let the ball bounce and use his speed to chase it.
It works sometimes, but he let in a try by doing it too.

Can't believe both Dureau and Sau ended up playing NSWC. I was going to go to this game seeing as though it was only at Windsor, but just didn't end up going. Got caught watching the Sharks vs Warriors in NYC and FG. I really wish I ended up going.
Wierd how you say Lulia had crap defence tonight AK. When in FG, his defence was pretty good I thought. Was rarely caught out of position and never really made the wrong reads in defence. He also never really missed many tackles. Pretty surprising if true.

Scott Dureau is finally back at the level where he belongs.
Knights fans got very carried away with a couple of decent games from a player with very limited ability.
The last couple of rounds have found out Dureau and his first grade ability ( or lack of ).
His game against the Warriors was just about the worst performance from any halfback from any team in the NRL all year.
If Bailey and Mullen continue to play well, don't expect Dureau back anytime soon.
jamesgould
15-06-2008, 12:34 PM
Sounds to me like you are getting carried away with a couple of bad performances by Dereau! Like it or not, he is our future halfback. And he definitely has the talent required to do that.

No actually, its the other way around. Knights fans got carried away over a couple of GOOD performances by Dureau and put him up on this pedestal which he didn't deserve to be on.
He has never struck me at any time of his career, in juniors, reserve grade, or anywhere else, that he has the qualities to make a first grade standard halfback in the NRL. He is a good solid halfback, but we are talking about the NRL - not park football. Glance around at the other teams halves and see where Dureau stacks up in comparison.
His kicking game at times can be atrocious, his defence is a massive weakness, and he has no tackle busting or line break abilities to speak of at all - and never has. Even his passing can be ordinary at times.
His one big assett is his ability to organise. That alone is not enough to be a first grade half.
A couple of solid games and a game winning field goal does not make a first grade footballer.
Like Matthew Johns and Peter Sterling, I could not understand why Dureau was put back into the side after injury when the Bailey/Mullen combo was scoring more points, and looking more dangerous in attack.
When Dureau was our half earlier in the season, our attack looked good for 12 points a game.
It is obvious that our best football this year has been playing with Bailey/Mullen.
And this week, common sense prevailed, because finally Brian Smith agrees , and thats shown by Dureau playing reserve grade, and Mullen-Bailey taking the reins for the Cowboys game.
I agree with EP... When Dureau kicked that field goal it seems some people straight away thought he was great, but since then has dropped off alot.
A few games in NSW Cup will do him good. Last night he was so poor.
Bailey/Mullen/Gidley is enough attacking for the Knights and defensively they are big across the park.
TippleNickler
15-06-2008, 03:30 PM
Funny you say that. Saying that Dureau isn't a quality half yet we should shift Mullen into the centres. Seems pretty silly to me. Bailey can't do it all on his own in the halves you know, and he can't wear both the 7 and 6 jersey at once either.
Oh, and you should thank Smithy for the inside info he obviously gave you regarding the halves situation: "If Bailey and Mullen continue to play well, don't expect Dureau back anytime soon."
Yep, EP Well Done on that Info.
Bailey & Mullen combo is working nicely. Dureau is quality... but at the moment, we have better players in FG.
~knightsgirljess~
15-06-2008, 03:35 PM
Agreed Dureau has dropped off alot since the field goal but as james said we signed him and he is our future (mind u last year we were saying the same about walsh so god knows what will happen next year)! We blew it i think we needed to keep Bailey he wil be the one thing the knights management will wish they had soughted and signed

15-06-2008, 03:36 PM
He was only seen as a quality player after the field goal, but anyone standing there could've got that so after that he became a little over rated

He was playing some good footy before his injury, and if you couldn't see that, than I don't know what Newcastle games you were watching.
He's been playing pretty average since he came back from his injury, but he did a decent job filling in at hooker with Hilder when Bedsey was out because of SOO.
Maybe a few weeks in NSWC will do him good, but I think he's lacking confidence at the moment, well it certainly looks that way to me.
I'm not saying he's some great half or he's a future HOF, but he was doing his job and doing it well. You can't take that away from him after a couple of suspect games and say he has no talent or that he's not cut out for FG (not directed at you AK).
I think we should go for Terry Campese... he'd be expensive but he's very good! And even looks like Bailey
He was playing some good footy before his injury, and if you couldn't see that, than I don't know what Newcastle games you were watching.
No one said he wasn't playing well. But you just nailed it, since his injury he's been terrible.
And from what I saw from him last night... he will stay in NSW Cup for a while. He struggled to break the line, knocked on under no pressure. Kicked the ball out on the full twice.
~knightsgirljess~
15-06-2008, 03:42 PM
I dont think anyone thinks he isnt cut out for fg! I think its his attitude since signing the new contract He got the contract and eased up on the intensity of his play a few weeks in reggies will make him see even though he has the contract he can be dropped. Its like a warning and i think he'l come back a better player for it
If there is one bloke who can bounce back after being dropped. It's S. Dureau.
It's not as if it's the end for him.
I tell you though. I cant see Luke Walsh playing FG anytime soon. He's sooo small

Sorry if I'm not going to buy into what you say 100%, because after all, you were saying only a week or two ago that Houston should be dropped for no apparent reason when at the beginning of the season you along with everyone else were saying that he was our best buy, but if you're correct and he had a skocker in NSWC, than I don't know what's going on with him. I do think he's playing with little or no confidence at the moment, so I think he needs to get that back.
You said he only kicked it out on the full once last night aswell in your previous post about the game.

15-06-2008, 03:49 PM
Yeah he is isnt he! he trys so hard to put weight on, smith last year told him to eat more and watch tv more become more lazy but thats just not luke he can't sit still!
Its a shame because he has talent his size is just going to let him down and as much as i hate to admit it (i'm like his number 1 supporter) i dont think we will see him this year either

I tell you though. I cant see Luke Walsh playing FG anytime soon. He's sooo small
He played at that size last year you know, and everyone absolutely loved him. Walsh is not a bad player, and I don't know why no one likes him anymore. It's like since he was injured in the off-season and couldn't really fight for his position in FG, everyone's been turned off him.
He has suspect defence though he's a good attacking player who doesn't have a bad kicking game. For his size, he's not afraid to mix it up in there or get hit either.
It's like since one person on here said he/she didn't like him, everyone else jumped on the bandwagon. Same with Uate. Everyone's brown nosing him big time and people who have never seen him play before are saying play him in FG. Play him off the bench even. It's just ridiculous how people around here change their opinions so quick on a player or form one on a player without ever seeing him play, just because everyone else is saying this and that about so and so.
The majority of people in this forum just jump on the bandwagon with everyone else instead of forming their own opinion.
Ever since this guy has joined, he's all for stirring others. I mean it's getting old, people say things on forums and what they say previously shouldn't be held against them.
Nothing better to do in their lives obviously.
