Justin Apthorpe
anyone know of him??
and madpup is back...good luck to him...I hope he can stay injury free for the rest of the seasonApthorpe and his brother both played wing and centre for the Knights at Mathews and Ball level - then they went to Penrith to be part of a better junior programme i suppose.
Justin played in Penriths Flegg winning side last season along with another former Knight, prop Brendan Hlad. Hlad got a senior contract at Penrith, but apparently he got himself a British passport and has just signed for Castleford in the ESL.
Back to Apthorpe - decent player who makes few mistakes but does nothing special.
Good to see Karawana back. Anyone know what was wrong with him?
Not sure, I thought Marvin was injured... would love to watch how Sarge is going in NSW Cup.
Shame I cant go today, they really need to hurry up with these highlights.
Who is watching NYC in another 2 hours around?
Should be a great game, Shannon Walker is out for the Titans and Sammy Stewart the ex Knight will play in his place.
NSW Cup Half Time
Knights are down 10-0.
Knights are leading in NSW Cup 16-14.

18-6
Titans way.
Newcastle went down 32-28 against Wests in the NSW Cup. :(
I think we got done late in the game.
NYC we are playing shocking but have been pulling off great tries.
Its 18-16 at half time.
Two tries to Richardson, One to Shirnack off a great kick by Stig.
Naiqama has had his ups and downs. Edwards has been good I think and the number 15.
NYC Knights went down 42-22.
Was close with about 8 minutes to go and Titans scored 3 late.
Wasnt really impressed with many today.
Marty Paulson cant defend, he missed so many tackles today. Kicked the ball out on the full twice.

Not good signs, hopefully our trend of loosing all grades in a row doesnt continue!

I thought Ryan Stig had a good game. That try saving tackle on the winger who was sure to score was a rippa.

Number 15 was Mitch Garbutt, he played well again today

NSW cup game
We lost 32-28 which was a fantastic result under the circumstances.
White and Tuafua didn't play - probably on standby for firstgrade.
Ferguson didn't play.
Apthorpe didn't play.
Luke Doogs got a kick in the face and didn't come back after halftime.
Laban started for Tuafua.
Asa started for White.
Young started at hooker.
Karawana played lock.
Briggs played 5/8.
Owen and McHattan and a guy in 24 joined the bench.
We started slow, but the more the game went on the more the boys got into it.
Sau had a great game, and Walshy scored a double and set up a few. Walshy ran 35 to score and outpaced some speedy backs, which proves he is back to being 100% fit for sure. Uate had some very good touches and scored a try from a Walsh cut out pass - he also did some wonderful cover defence to clean up maybe three potential tryscoreing breaks - but he did let in a fairly soft try on the line and spilled a bomb.
Youngy made another break - his third for the year - which is more than he has done in the last 5 years. He also had a great game at hooker and got through a mountain of defence with the best defenders all out.

NYC
I think Dobbo has found his future at prop. He and Garbutt dominated the middle of the ground when they came off the bench, and it showed on the scoreboard that we were well behind when they ran on, had nearly caught up by halftime, and the Tits ran away with the game late when the 'starting' props were back out on the field.
Jonno Ford is starting to really look the goods at fullback. He even looked safe this game.
Stig ran down a winger who left our best backs for dead, which makes him fast as well as huge for a halfback.
Osbourne looked much better and had a few good runs from dummy half.
Callan's first try was vintage Richo with the opposition winger showing him the sideline, Richo putting the foot down, and the guy not getting a hand on him. Great to see Richo get a double and score in his last three games - it's like the old days in Mathews when the only question was how many he would get for the day.
Schirnack scored a try off a stig kick where he must have been offside i reckon.
The tits used Sammy Stewart as their secret weapon in number 23, which must be the stupidest tactic ever. Stewart did some really clever things, which the Knights read like a book - just like in training last year i imagine.
The tits were big, athletic and too fit for us.
I lost count how many times Hurrell was turned inside out at marker and how loose around the middle of the ruck was.

I lost count how many times Hurrell was turned inside out at marker and how loose around the middle of the ruck was.Time we put Shirnack at lock, Stig at halfback and Hurrell at 5/8.
Paulson is too erratic for us to cover and Hurrell is too small for lock and a quality 5/8.
Joel brown could play lock too.
Shirnack reminded me alot like Cory Paterson, his pick up for the first try was awesome.

Shirnack reminded me alot like Cory Paterson, his pick up for the first try was awesome.Schirnack does some good things in attack like Patto, but unlike Patto he is our second highest tackler after Hurrell week after week.
